Festival Blueprint

KatJazz International Music Festival, in collaboration with the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory, aims to create an immersive environment that harmonizes contemporary music with the rich traditions of Nepal and beyond, through the universal language of Jazz. Held yearly around International Jazz Day on April 30th, the festival’s original mission is educational and the proceeds have funded 2 scholarships at the conservatory every year since its inception, in 2017.

KatJazz also prioritises artists that are interested in emparting their knowledge and exchanging with students of the conservatory and young local musicians. Workshops are an essential part of the festival, along with a residency involving local folk and classical musicians. Ultimately, KatJazz aspires to be a platform for artists of the growing Nepali jazz scene to reach the rest of the world.

Embark on a journey of musical intersections, searching for harmony and fostering understanding in a complex and dynamic world.
